Introdução a história da fotografia de moda e a sua evolução inspirada pelas artes, transformações sociais e tecnológicas. Serão apresentados os principais movimentos desde as primeiras fotografias de moda até a era digital, passando por alguns dos fotógrafos que marcaram época e as principais influências de cada período.

From Local to Global is a project which raises awareness of sustainable fashion practices in Brazil and challenges a debate on how its cultural references could be depicted in fashion photography, with sections on circular economy, labour, cultural identity, decoloniality, case studies and possible ways of branding local products to global markets. Furthermore, this was my master’s project for the MA Fashion Photography – LCF/UAL which got an A+ grade and granted me a graduation with distinction.
Do Local para o Global: A Economia Circular no Centro da Moda Artesanal no Brazil (From Local to Global) é um projeto que chama a atenção para a produção de moda sustentável no Brasil e promove o debate sobre como as referências culturais podem ser incorporadas na fotografia de moda. Este trabalho levanta questões sobre economia circular, identidade cultural, decolonialismo, relações de trabalho, sustentabilidade e geração de renda, e sobre como a produção local de moda pode ser transformada em um valioso produto para o mercado internacional. Este estudo garantiu o título de Mestre em Fotografia de Moda com nota máxima e ‘honras’ ao fotógrafo Ale Filizzola. Ale foi único brasileiro e latino americano a se formar com este diploma pela London College of Fashion / UAL (2021)

O boudoir – se pronuncia “budoar” em português – uma palavra que veio do francês de mais de um século atrás que era usada para nomear a parte da suíte privativa de uma senhora, usada para banho, se trocar e até para confidências, e que já apareceu na moda como tendência inspirada no universo íntimo da mulher – está também cada vez mais presente na fotografia para mulheres de todas as idades.
Este tipo de fotografia, não necessariamente “mostra” tudo. O objetivo maior não é mostrar, mas sim, insinuar e exaltar sensualidade. O resultado geralmente implica em imagens artísticas e que enaltecem a beleza feminina de todas as formas e idades. Muito além das modelos profissionais, o mercado deste tipo de fotografia que mais cresce tem entre os seus clientes as mulheres comuns que decidem ousar mais que um simples sessão de retratos.

Voltando no tempo, bem lá atrás, na época dos gregos e romanos, a moda era meio que uma só pra todo o mundo dito civilizado. Com boa parte do corpo em evidência como uma coisa normal, vestimentas drapeadas e sem corte eram a base de uma moda que seguiu praticamente inalterada por séculos. As mudanças de estilo aconteciam geralmente nos adereços, como jóias, penteados, perucas e maquiagem. O oposto disso, roupas com corte e costura, ainda que rústicas, eram características do mundo bárbaro. E isso nem se cogitava “desfilar” pelas ruas de Roma.

“As muito feias que me perdoem, mas beleza é fundamental” – já dizia Vinícius de Moraes em uma de suas músicas lá pelo final dos anos 50. Sexismo, chauvinismo, feminismo e tantos outros “ismos” aplicáveis à parte, o mundo mudou muito de lá pra cá. Entretanto, em meio aos avanços sociais e das mídias digitais, toda a feiura será castigada. Ao menos ao que se refere à imagem das empresas e seus produtos.

From the banks of the Amazon river in northern Brazil comes an example of how the humanization of the prison system and entrepreneurship can be powerful allies in the reduction of violence and criminality. In June 2018, I had the opportunity to visit the Pará female state prison and to get up close and document the prize-winning work carried out there. This work today serves as a model for the entire prison system in Brazil and has been reported on not only in Brazil but in the rest of the world too. The idea was to photograph the day to day life of these women, both inmates and the staff, but I found much more there than I could have hoped for.

I am feeling very proud of being elected as the winner on the Photography category on the Press Award UK 2017.
I was nominated as one of the outstanding Brazilian photographers in London who, among the other highlighted artists, has featured his contribution to promote the Brazilian Culture as well as a positive image of both Brazil and Brazilians and their activities overseas.
My many thanks to the board for this award and for all that honored me with their vote and support through the whole fases of the award. The first fase was being nominated by one member of the special jury; the second fase was by popular election and the 3 finalists for each category went to the selection by the technical jury.
What a great satisfaction to shoot this dearest couple during their wedding day at the Palacio do Bussaco in Coimbra, Portugal. Here follows a little taster of this great day. We wish all the happiness and the best in the world in your life together!
